April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader in which she began piano and guitar classes. April Lockhart composed her first track"Different" at 12 years old. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing and honed her musical skills. Then, in the following months, April began to go on trips with her dad as well as write her songs at home in NY as well as LA. April began to include various other topics relevant to the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer with a growing following. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia in partnership, and is also a specialist in lifestyle. Her disability is a part of her identity, but it's not all of the of the picture. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't focus solely on her disability. What message is it sending? It's crucial to understand that each of us has many faces, our identities are varied and we're much more than our bodies. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines my character. My goal is not to influence disability because I have so much more to offer." But it does not affect my daily living. I do the things I normally would and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. Because it's an integral part of me and something worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. She admits that she has had periods where she was uncomfortable wearing certain clothing styles which exposed her arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she likes and uploads photos on Facebook in awe. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I believe that you will ever be in that place," she said. That's true of everyone regardless of how much they are afraid. It is important to have people around you who are aware of and understand your situation. They'll be the ones who ask you: What do you think about?
