Laura Linney is an American actor, who became popular for her portrayal of powerful but fragile characters. Her father was a celebrated writer, however Linney was raised as a single child with a single mother and nurse. In the summer and with her father Linney discovered a love for theater. Her first stage experience was first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career shortly after graduating, and then made her television debut the following year. Innumerable appearances in films, and television and stage productions since then. During her career she received many awards, including two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of numerous awards, theatre has remained her first love and she has continued to appear both on stage and screen.
